Friendswood Mustangs vs. Angleton Wildcats

Instead of typing my review of last night's game, I'm going to copy and paste all my tweets here.

Angleton, are you ready to be invaded people wearing blue and white?

Are you ready for some football? Texas High School football that is. I followed my favorite team to Angleton to watch them take on the Wildcats. If you're here, give me a shout out. :) GO MUSTANGS!!

Friendswood wins the toss and elects to recieve.

#26 catches in the endzone, hands off to #5 who runs to the 47 yard line.

PA system isn't working well.

QB keeper didn't work too well. But that pass was beautiful! We're on the 3, 1st and goal!

Score Mustangs!!!

Angleton's first drive, touchdown. :(

Play clock 10:01 score 7-7

Pete's feet were too fast for the rest of his body. I wonder how far he would have run.

2nd and goal on the 1/2 yard line. And . . . we score!!!

We kick, they catch, they fumble, we recover!! 1st and 10 on their 37.

4th & 1

1st down

Time Out

2:40 left in the1st quarter Friendswood 28 - Angleton 7

Diggs got free again. 2:23 left in the 1st quarter, Friendsood 28 - Angleton 14

Our offense is starting on our 20

JJ catches the ball and runs to the 12 before he is pushed out of bounds.

We're in the endzone again!! Friendswood 35 - Angleton 14

1:34 left in the 1st quarter

Our first punt of the game, Angleton gets the ball on their 11

Diggs got away, . . . again. 9:54 left in the half, Friendswood 35 - Angleton 21

I was told this stadium holds approx. 1o,000 and it's close to full. :)

Here we go again. Pass completed to Kennemer, he loses the ball (stripped?) and they get it back on their 25.

Our offense is looking better than our defense.

Sack!!

Diggs is finding lots of holes, but at least this time, he didn't get away. We ran him out at the 47.

Hey refs, We got it on film if you wanna try that call again. We recovered that fumble!

Are we gonna use all the time outs to figure out one play?

This stadium is great to rumble. Unfortunately, Diggs still got the 1st down.

Our defense is looking better the longer they play.

We get the ball back on downs. 3:23 left in the half. 1st and 10 on their 17.

We had to punt again. They have the ball on their 42.

Our band forgot their hats. Hehe

End of the 1st half. Friendswood 35 - Angleton 21

Did you know there's sheet music for band for Bad Romance by Lady Gaga? Angleton's band is playing it for their drill team.

3rd quarter had begun. Angleton has the ball in their own territory.

Last I heard,if a receiver drops the ball and we pounce on it, we get the ball. Did the rules change?

We got the ball on our 21

Pete runs to the 49

Instead of sliding into home, Kenemer slids for the 1st down.

The never ending 1st quarter drained my battery, not sure how long I can keep giving play by play updates.

Wow! Pete's got an arm. So, which colleges are looking at him?

Now Angleton, didn't your coaches teach you that you're not allowed to grab players by their face masks?

Friendswood scores again! 3:43 left in the 3rd quarter, Friendswood 42 - Angleton 21

Excuse me refs, have you ever heard of offensive pass interference? Thats what you just saw, and it's a penalty against the offense, not the defense.

End of the 4th quarter, Friendswood 42 - Angleton 21

Hey defense, no dancing with Diggs. He will dance around you and score.

11:47 left in the game, Friendswood 42 - Angleton 27

Pete ran to the 1 yard line

TD, but flag. We scored!! 9:35 left in the game. Friendswood 49 - Angleton 28

Short kicks are for when we're behind, not ahead.

We got the ball back on downs. We're taking over at the 12 yard line.

Hmmm, how many penalties can we get & it still be 1st down? Pete's having to throw from the back of the endzone.

3rd and 12 on our 12

Had to punt, they take over on our 40.

Diggs fumbled, we recovered. We get the ball back on their 49. Did you see that Sean? 49!!

Final score, Friendswood 49 - Angleton 28

My 8 year old asked if she could pick up the trash on the grass behind our side of the stadium. How could I saw no?

I was just thinking, I know that's dangerous. Did we actually make it through a whole game without Van Meter throwing his hat?!?

so, next week, I will post my blog when I get home from the game so you get something better than the game tweets.
:)

Football Season Tickets

This year, we were able to get 8 season tickets for the Friendswood Mustangs football team. In years past, I've been told that people start lining up at 4:30am on the day tickets went on sale. Of those people, those who got in line at 5:30am or later, did not get tickets. They were already sold out. So, this year, we got in line at 4:15am. There were 15 people in line ahead of us, with the first people having gotten there at 10pm the night before. I figured that since this will be the first year with the new, expanded stadium, we would have our best chance of getting tickets.
Turns out, we didn't need to get up that early. I went back to the school later to see if the rumors I heard about the stadium were true. There was no answer on the rumors, but there were lots of seats still available. I saw our Athletic Director's Secretary at the new junior high's open campus Wednesday. There were still lots of season tickets available. I hope they are sold out soon, if not already. :)

Preteen camp

This year, I went with our church to preteen camp from August 3 - August 7. Our church, FBCF, sent 92 people, 70 students and 22 adults. Drew Worsham was the camp pastor and the Chris Allen Band was the worship leaders at Pineywoods Baptist Encampment (Over The Edge preteen camp).
We had an amazing week. I was with the 5th and 6th grade girls in cabin Main 12 (15 students, 5 adults). We tied for 2nd in the clean cabin aware this year. I guess matching blankets, pillowcases and curtains aren't enough. Drew Worsham did some amazing magic and spent the week going through the book of Acts (our theme this year was iLead). Chris Allen lead some amazing songs, but unfortunately, they were out of my range, so I had a sore throat most of the week.
The black spot on the week, the week we chose to go to camp was the same week everyone else chose to go to camp. The first week of camp, there were approx. 350 people there. The week we were there 887 people paid to be there. That faciltity is simply not designed to handle that many people. It took 1.5 hours to move everyone through the meal lines 3 times each day. There was only 1 hour in the schedule for meals. The OTE bunch stalled by handing out prizes and rubber ducky awards. The problem - if you were still eating when your name was called, you never got your prize/award. Also, because of the number of people present, the pool was only open to the group who swam during designated rec for morning free time. Then, during afternoon designated rec, that same group went to the pool. So, you either swam 3 times per day, or not at all. Then, this year, 5th grade swim night had to be cancelled due to lightening. :( Hopefully next year, it will be better. Drew Worsham will be the camp pastor both weeks and Dennis Lee will be the main event speaker both weeks.
Part of the sponsor pledge is "I will only act like an adult when I have to. I realize I am not at the Hilton and I will not expect to be treated as if I were at the Hilton." Love it!
We are hoping to be at camp the first week next year, and we hope there will be fewer people there while we are there.
